Getting Here

Launceston is accessed via one of Australia’s best regional airports with services from QantasJetstar and Virgin Australia. Launceston has direct flights from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane making it a great escape for a wintery Women in Design celebration. The airport is an easy 15 minute drive or Cab ride (approx. $35) or Shuttle bus to your hotel door (approx.  $18) from the city of Launceston.

Getting Around

Launceston is the perfect city to get around on foot, relatively flat and most points of interest and facilities are with-in 15 minutes walk. Should you want to explore further there is a free Tiger Bus service and numerous car rental companies on your door step. We recommend grabbing an ArtBike from Design Tasmania – free for the day to explore the sights of Launceston.

Where to Stay

Launceston has a range of accommodation to suit every traveller. For those with a penchant for the finer things we recommend the Hotel Grand Chancellor, Hatherley Birrell Collection, Highfield House or 242 on Charles Street. You can also find great value accommodation near by at the Grand Chancellor or the Clarion Hotel City Park Grand or jump onto WotIf or preferred platform to find a place just right for you.

Where to Eat & Drink

While we have catered for most of your needs throughout the Women in Design Colloquium we would encourage you to venture out and explore to local cafe and restaurant scene. There is no shortage of great local produce available in Launceston, start your day with breakfast at Farmers Market, SweetBrew- a great coffee and if it’s just coffee to get your day started drop in to Amelia Espresso. For lunch you could hit them all up again or try Garden of Vegan, Pierres, Cafe Mondello.

Then for dinner we suggest something a little special with Stillwater, the Blackcow Bistro, PX or Mudbar at seaport.
